Kelly believes that each of us has a sacred duty to live life in a way that will leave the earth better for our brief visit. This is why she devotes most of her work time to helping deserving individuals rather than choosing to work for big corporations. She also invests substantial time and talent outside the courtroom to causes that help others. .

Examples of Kelly’s passion for helping others include the following:

Kelly has represented dozens of domestic violence victims for free or substantially reduced fees through the Georgia Coalition Against Domestic Violence program.
Kelly served as a Stephen Minister through her church, St. Catherine’s Episcopal church, devoting time each week to the care of emotionally or psychically injured and struggling members of the community.
Kelly is the Founder, Past-President and current Advisory Board Member of the Professional Women’s Information Network (www.prowin.com), a widely acclaimed organization of women professionals who meet quarterly for lunch and learn sessions designed to help women achieve their professional goals.
Georgia Trial Lawyers Association;
Kelly served as an Arbitrator for the National Association of Securities Dealers (“NASD”)
Member and Chair, State Health Planning Review Board (1994-2000)
Kelly donates time and money to numerous causes including, the Salvation Army, Sierra Club, The Audobon Society, Lambda Legal, Environmental Defense Fund, the National Resource Defense Council, the World Wildlife Foundation, the Nature Conservancy, and the Georgia Interfaith Power and Light, among others.

Kelly participated in the 2007 MDA Lock-Up, raising donations for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Her friends and colleagues gave generously in response to her requests, placing her in the top five fundraisers for the event, and providing the resources to send several kids to camp and to fund additional research into the causes of and possible cures for this disease.
